Can I use my laptop to charge my Ipod while in countries with different voltage?

Can I use my laptop to charge my Ipod while in countries with different voltage?

So laptops don't need voltage converters, but lots of mp3 players do. If I have my laptop charged into a 240 volt European outlet, is it safe to charge my mp3 player, via USB cable, off the laptop? Thank you!
